Dear esteemed partners,
I hope you, your family and all your team members are safe and healthy. While the virus threat is global in nature, the situation is different in each country and changing fast. There have been a number of changes in construction practices to ensure safety and social distancing, we too are taking utmost care to ensure safety of our employees, customers and end users.
Throughout our history, we have been a wellspring of innovation, safety, quality and technological advances. As the country opens-up, we are committed to supporting the reopening phase responsibly, taking a calibrated and measured approach, because we place strong emphasis on safeguarding the wellbeing and safety of our customers and employees. And I am proud to say, KONE India plans to continue its heritage of leadership in the markets we serve and, in the communities, where we live and work.
We, at KONE, have also tried our very best to keep our elevators and escalators working at all times, especially in hospitals and in high rise buildings thus ensuring smooth people flow during these critical times. Our service technicians whom we call our “super heroes” continued to work tirelessly even during the lockdown as elevators and escalators are part of emergency services in India.
For us at KONE, innovation means putting our customer and end user at the center. Addressing the challenges of adapting to new ways of living, working, and commuting in light of the current pandemic, we have launched a range of Health and Well-being solutions for you
These include:
- A touch free Elevator Call Feature using WhatsApp allows users to call an elevator using the social messaging platform, removing the need to touch possibly contaminated buttons or displays.
- Physical distancing solutions like elevator floor stickers and elevator capacity adjustments to ensure less crowding and maintain social distancing.
- KONE Elevator Air Purifier uses technology – including an advanced photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) process developed by NASA for air control on spaceships to improve air quality in the elevator car by removing most of the potential pollutants, like bacteria, viruses, dust and odours, in the air.
- KONE Handrail Sanitizer, an escalator handrail cleaning solution that uses a type of ultraviolet light (UV-C) to gradually disinfect escalator handrails.
As you know we already have the 24/7 connected services that ensure transparency and preventive maintenance services which is IOT and cloud-based technology. I must say that 24/7 services which we have sold in thousands of numbers in India have been a great success for our end users and the facility managers, as it ensures preventive maintenance and complete peace of mind to our customers. A key benefit of these solutions for you, is that improvements can be introduced easily, in an era when hygiene and physical distancing are vitally important to fight against COVID- 19.
I am delighted to share that earlier this year we inaugurated our new warehouse in Mumbai which will house much larger number of spare parts, thereby ensuring our best services to get even better for our customers. We also now have new state-of-the-art offices in Bhubaneshwar and Nepal ensuring that we are now much closer to our customers.
Safety is of paramount importance at KONE. It is the most important part of our business. We at KONE led the industry by celebrating Global Safety Week across India and with many of our customers.
As the lockdown in India opens in various states, all our offices across India are now working and our teams have started connecting with customers both virtually and inperson, taking all safety precautions as per the guidelines issued by the Central and various State Governments. We are always there to support our customers and ensure that we complete their projects on time. These are challenging times, however, we along with you, as a team will need to play our part in helping the Indian economy grow, which I am sure will continue to be the fastest growing economy in the world. This can only be possible when we play our part positively by completing all realistic projects on time and give possession to residential, commercial services, as well as ensure that the people flow in hospitals is safe and uninterrupted.
I am quite positive that these challenging times are short lived. We have learnt a lot about effective and proactive working during these times which will certainly help our businesses and economies excel in future.
